Alturas Baptist Church is
affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, and is located in
Alturas, California, the Modoc County Seat. Modoc County is
the north-eastern-most in California, bordering Nevada and Oregon,
and is a beautiful, high plateau, high-desert area.
PURPOSE
Alturas Baptist Church has adopted a purpose
statement, which reads:
"Alturas Baptist Church
exists to glorify God by
seeking to win and lead all people
to become
fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ."
We "seek to: obey the Great Commandment* by Magnifying
God through worship and Ministering to people; and to fulfill
the Great Commission** by Missions and evangelism,
Membership in the Body of Christ, and growing people to
Maturity in Christ."
*The Great
Commandment is in the words of Christ found in Luke 10:27, and
says, "Love
the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and
with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your
neighbor as your self.
**The Great Commission
is Christ's words recorded in Matthew 28:19-20: "...Go and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey
everything I have commanded you."
STATEMENT OF FAITH
We seek to be
faithful to the command of Jesus to go into the entire world
with the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ. As our
Savior has instructed, we seek to reach out in Christian witness
and ministry to our community, state, nation, and world.
We
express our beliefs in agreement with the current statement of
the Baptist Faith and Message as adopted by The Southern Baptist
